Walks on the Web

Walks in and around the parish, of various lengths, exploring the historic landscape, wildlife and built heritage of the civil parish of Witley, Surrey.

As a Millennium project, Witley and Milford Parish Council produced a book of walks. By 2010 the walks needed updating and it was decided to transfer them to the Witley and Milford Parish Council website to enable them to be continuously updated as necessary. This has proved to be a very wise decision as many changes have been necessary and it has also allowed additional walks to be added. Please help us to keep them up to date by reporting any changes you encounter on the routes. Any problems with the paths, stiles or signposts should be reported to Surrey County Council at SCC Report a Rights of Way Problem or by phoning 03456 009 009 stating that it is a Public Rights of Way issue.

The sketch maps are for guidance and it is recommended you take the appropriate OS map with you.

Please respect the Country Code – keep dogs under control in the vicinity of livestock, take your litter home with you and remember it is an offence to pick or uproot any wildflowers. Please close all gates behind you.

We now also have a selection of routes that are free of stiles for Trampers (all-terrain mobility scooters) off-road cyclists and walkers. They all start at Rodborough Common and cross adjoining commons to the following pubs – ‘Three Horseshoes’ at Thursley, ‘Duke of Cambridge at Tilford and the three pubs at Elstead and in addition there is one to the café at Hindhead. They have been tried out for ‘Trampers’ although other makes may be suitable they have not been trialled. Weather conditions may cause deterioration of paths, so scooter riders please be vigilant. It is advisable for scooter riders to be accompanied at all times on the commons as they are not patrolled.

The council has taken all reasonable steps to ensure these walks are safe and achievable by walkers with a realistic level of fitness for the distances stated. However, all outdoor activities involve a degree of risk and Witley and Milford Parish Council can accept no responsibility for any injuries caused to walkers/cyclists/scooter riders whilst following these walks.
